Version 2026.1
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and UniMela for using the UniMela platform. When you complete onboarding and accept these Terms — and by continuing to use UniMela — you agree to them. Your acceptance, with the Terms version you accepted, is recorded on your account when you complete onboarding. If you don't agree to these Terms, don't use UniMela.
These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how UniMela handles your information.
UniMela is a campus platform where university students can discover marketplace listings, campus services (food, housing, tuition, ride sharing, lost & found), reviews, events, and announcements, and communicate with other students.
UniMela is currently for users with an eligible university account. You sign in with your university Google account; your university email domain determines whether you can join and whether you join as a student or staff member. Sign-in is limited to approved university email domains. If your university Google account becomes ineligible, you may lose access.
Your account is tied to your university Google identity. Your display name comes from that identity; an optional username (3–30 characters, starting and ending with a letter or number) can be set during onboarding or in your profile.
You're responsible for keeping access to your Google account secure and for activity under your UniMela account. Don't share your account with others.
You can request deletion of your account from Settings. Deletion signs you out everywhere immediately and starts a 30-day grace period, during which you can cancel. After the grace period, your account is marked as deleted. UniMela may also restrict, suspend, or deactivate accounts that violate these Terms (see Moderation below).
Much of what makes UniMela useful is content students create: listings and photos, food, housing, tuition, ride-sharing and lost & found posts, reviews, event registrations, messages, and profile information.
Ownership and license. You retain ownership of content you submit to UniMela. You grant UniMela a non-exclusive license to host, store, display, reproduce, and otherwise process that content as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, moderate, and improve the platform.
Your controls. You can edit or delete content you own — only you can edit or delete your own listings, posts, and reviews. Deleting content removes it from view; like most systems, deletion is applied as removal-and-marking rather than instant physical erasure of every stored copy.
Uploads. File uploads are limited by type and size (images up to 7 MB in common web formats; documents up to 20 MB as PDF), pass validation and virus scanning, and may be reviewed for safety. Uploads that fail these checks are rejected.
Your responsibility. You're responsible for the content you post, including that you have the rights to share it and that it doesn't violate these Terms, university rules, or the law.
UniMela is a campus community. To keep it useful and safe for everyone, you agree not to use UniMela for:
These are rules for using the platform. UniMela relies on reports and review by its moderation team — UniMela does not automatically detect every type of prohibited behavior, and it may not catch every violation. When violations are found, they are handled through the moderation process described below.
UniMela is a platform that helps students discover listings and communicate with other users. UniMela is not a party to user-to-user transactions and does not process payments, provide escrow, guarantee transactions, guarantee sellers or buyers, or provide refunds.
Transactions — buying, selling, ordering food, arranging housing or tuition, or sharing rides — are between users and are undertaken at the users' own risk. Payment arrangements (such as cash or mobile banking) are made directly between users; UniMela records transaction details only so both sides can track and review them.
You are responsible for your own decisions and interactions: check what you're buying, meet in public campus locations, and use the safety guidance provided in the app (for example, the Safety Tips shown on listings). Be careful, and report problems.
UniMela messaging lets you talk to other students about listings and posts. Messages are visible to you and the other person in the conversation. Keep conversations on the platform where they can be reported if something goes wrong.
Don't use messages to harass, threaten, spam, or scam others — messages can be reported and reviewed like other content.
You can submit a verification request to confirm your student status — for example, with your student ID, enrollment certificate, transcript, or university-email proof. Documents you upload for verification are stored securely and shown only to assigned reviewers; they aren't public. Your verification status may be shown on your profile. Please be truthful in verification requests.
You can report listings, posts, reviews, messages, and users that violate these Terms, and attach evidence to reports. Reports are reviewed by UniMela's moderation team, who may open a case and take action such as issuing a warning, hiding or removing content, restricting or suspending an account, or banning an account. If you believe a moderation decision was wrong, you can raise it with the moderation team through the in-app Help/FAQ desk.
To keep the platform secure, UniMela keeps audit records of security and moderation actions (see the Privacy Policy for what these contain and how long they're kept).
The UniMela name, branding, logos, software, interface, and platform materials are owned by their respective rights holders and are protected by applicable law. You may not copy, reuse, or redistribute UniMela's software or branding without permission.
Your content remains yours (see User Content). If you believe content on UniMela infringes your rights, report it through the in-app Help/FAQ desk.
UniMela uses Google Sign-In to authenticate accounts; Google's own terms apply to your Google account. Uploaded files are stored through UniMela's storage pipeline (self-hosted or a configured cloud storage provider, depending on deployment). These Terms cover your use of UniMela; they don't cover third-party services, which have their own terms and policies.
You can stop using UniMela at any time and can request account deletion as described under Accounts. UniMela may restrict, suspend, or deactivate accounts that violate these Terms, with restoration handled by the moderation team where appropriate.
When an account is deleted — by you or after moderation — it is removed from the platform and its content is removed from view. Some records remain as described in the Privacy Policy (for example, moderation and audit records kept for security purposes).
UniMela is provided on an "as available" basis. UniMela does not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, and features may change or be unavailable at times.
Content on UniMela comes from other users. UniMela does not guarantee the accuracy, safety, quality, legality, or reliability of user-generated content or of user-to-user transactions. You use the platform at your own risk and are responsible for your own interactions and decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, UniMela is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for losses arising from user-to-user transactions or from your use of the platform.
UniMela may update these Terms from time to time. When that happens, the updated version is published on this page with a new "Last updated" date and, where the version changes, a new version number. Your acceptance (including the version you accepted) is recorded when you complete onboarding; continuing to use UniMela after changes are published means the updated Terms apply to your use.
